Kilimanjaro! Where different worlds collide
Cultures and differences put aside
Tourists and locals unite
We weren’t here to fight
Mt Uhuru, it looked such a beast
As we wandered from west to east
A monster who provides so much hope
How would us tourists cope
Omari was our captain
As we walked the mountain
We were One team
With One dream
With every step
I wish I’d done more prep
Our progress was slow
Our route I would have liked to know
To myself and locals alike
Burdened by the chains of daily life
The mountain represented freedom
It was the pinnacle of Africa’s kingdom
Oh you rugged peak
You looked so bleak
That cold night temperature
Was worth it for the adventure
Promises were given
We certainly were driven
Guided by a million stars
It seemed so far
We reached the top
I’d wanted to stop
A bag of mixed emotions
‘Outdoors’ the great addiction
So there we stood
who could tell our mood
upon the roof of Africa
